The mappers Chris "Barney"
Auty fragged101@yahoo.com
Chris is known on the CS Team as Narby and/or Mr Fr@ggle. He hails from Lincoln,
England and is currently studying at Hull University. One of the most prolific
mappers on the team, Chris always has a new creation in the works. In his spare
time he can be found alseep dreaming of mittens or spending time in Dallas with
Buckles Nuccio. When things get tense, we turn to Narby's accent for strength.
David Johnston dv@btinternet.com
DaveJ created one of the most popular series of maps for a shooter, the Dust
maps. In addition to his mapping exploits he is currently studying in the UK,
where he lives. When not answering e-mails about Dust, he can be found "visiting
the pub with mates" (yes, he shares that special something with Narby called "englishness").
Dave is also known for his footlong feet. David Marsh zaphod@planethalflife.com
David (also known as Zaphod) is currently studying architecture at the University
of Arizona though he is originally from San Diego. When he's not mapping for CS
or DoD, he's usually drawing something for class or doing some photography / web
design. Zaphod also goes by the name Zaphod Beezlesnub because no one is quite
sure how to spell Beezlebrox. Jo "Meeeedic" Bieg meeeedic@gmx.net
Jo created the staple de_nuke among others such as the cult classic de_fang.
He lives near Stuttgart, Germany and studies business information technology.
Other than mapping, he's also interested in web-design and programming. More often
than not Jo can be found performing blistering guitar riffs on his guitar and
telling us how many e's Meeeedic has. Christopher Mair chris@barking-dog.com
Chris works for Barking Dog Software and was contracted during Beta 5 to
map. He's been creating levels since the days of Wolf3d and doesn't intend to
stop (unless his rapping career takes off). He currently lives in Vancouver, British
Columbia and spends the few free moments he has each day playing with his son
Maceo. Chris is best known for his striking resemblence to slop rock/rapper Fred
Durst. Mike Rosser cadaver@planethalflife.com
Mike is a mapper for Cstrike as well as the popular Science & Industry mod.
He is currently studying for a geography degree at Cambridge University, England.
What sort of job this degree will be useful for, he has no idea, but he's real
good with maps. Online, he can be found in IRC channels, where he is said to enjoy
spamming and making non sequiturs. Mike's nickname, "Cadaver," scares even the
most audacious CS team members. CryptR lmuur@dlc.fi
CruptR worked with us back in the Action Quake2 days when his maps actcity and
actcity2 were classics. Instead of remaking act, we asked Crypt to make a new
map and cs_assault is what he came up with. Assault's claim to fame is a sign
that reads "72th Street" which has been deemed "too funny to fix." Andrew
Aumann aumannandrew@cox-internet.com
Andrew's cs_militia has become a true classic among CS players. When he's
not mapping, Andrew is buy hunting and fishing in Colorado. He enjoys the peaceful
life and has worn out every one of his John Denver long players. He also helped
n@rby with the infamous Aztec lightning, to which many unsuspecting and innocent
players have fallen victim. GlenC glenC@hotsheep.com
Glen worked together with Digichaos on the CS favorite cs_italy. His liberal
placement of gibbing chickens is his claim to fame. When Glen is not working with
chickens, he wears a ninja suit and uses nunchucks. Markus witchdawn@hotmail.com
Markus took the reigns from Leon Nieuwoudt on the cs_747 project and spent
many months completing it. Though 747 didn't make the splash it was intended to,
the map did get a nice airbrush job on the CS retail box. Markus has since quit
the mapping world and now works for the Government in California. What he does
there is classified, or so he tells us. Leon Nieuwoudt l_nieuwoudt@hotmail.com
Leon is one of the original four mappers from beta 1. His first map wpndepot
was a staple in early beta versions of CS. He moved onto the cs_747 project later
to hand it off to Markus. Leon lives in South Africa where even the locals can't
pronounce his last name. Alex "Hobbit" Manilov hobbit@bellatlantic.net
Hobbit comes to us from the great state of New Jersey where he attends Rutgers
University. Alex's creations include de_prodigy and cs_office. The latest feather
in his cap is a stint at Gearbox making maps and spending time with n@rby in the
mapper's chamber (also known as the mapper's dungeon). Alex's deep Russian accent
has been known to intimidate other mappers. Texture artists
Chris Ashton macmaninfi@aol.com
MacMan is a pixel pushing artist and mapper that lives in Seattle, Washington.
Currently working at Valve, he's also worked on games such as Star Trek - Hidden
Evil and Red Alert 2. Mac enjoys fast vehicals but his prized supercharged Cobra
Mustang spends more time in the shop than the road. He has no furniture in his
home, not even a bed. Macman was brough onto the CS team as a result to his stellar
gritty textures from the HL mod Chemical Existence. He is probably best known
for his texture work on the Dust series. Ido Magal fanboydlx@hotmail.com.
Ido's a UC Berkeley computer science drop-out turned artist. He enjoys photography,
books about war, foreign films, and advising the President about issues of national
importance. His Gameography includes IBM/Crayola's 3D Castle Creator, HotB's Black
Bass Fishing (PC version), and Red Alert 2. He's originally from Israel, and currently
resides in Seattle and works at Valve. Ido is said to be in cahoots with Ashton
usually. DigiChaos jaisong@superdoo.com
Jason worked together with GlenC on cs_italy to make the authentic textures
that you see. He and his partner spent many hours deciding which strategic position
in which to place the chickens in the marketplace. Both Jason and Glen are now
best known for exploding chickens and Italian opera.
Linux guru Leon Hartwig hartwig@valvesoftware.com
Leon has been our Linux porter since the beginning of CS development, when
he graciously offered his services. Now at Valve Software, Leon sitll dabbles
in the CS code. In addition to the port duties, Leon has vastly improved the CS
hostage follow code. In his spare time Leon enjoys scarfing Rikki Rikki.
